Sure, the media over-hyped the doom and gloom predictions about Y2K. Why tell a bland and factual story when it can be blown up to scare the public.
That’s what the media does. But that doesn’t invalidate many of the predictions.
If the huge task of re-coding programs hadn’t been made then many of the predictions would have proven valid.
There were some cases where programs had not been fixed and events did pan out as predicted.
