Well, cognitive science tells us that you can get addicted to anything, even brushing your teeth … the idea is not what you are dealing with but how you deal with it … it is all about intensity and direction, if it’s intense and going the negative direction, get out of it.

Well said, marcodiluce - you also need a strong will and a purpose to relieve yourself of an addiction - and they’re in short supply when the addictive tendency forms at a young age. Individual responsibility has to be fostered, ideally with a strong social network.
We’re seeing the social effects of this in my country, with youngsters’ perceptions of relationships being warped and distorted by the widespread availability of the most hardcore pornography.
Some Greek bloke was right when he said that the male libido is like being chained to a maniac.
When guys can focus on something other than sex, it’s remarkable what can be accomplished.

…Having a clear head and not thinking about sex has not made anyone smarter either. In fact, if men didn’t care about impressing women with their money, cars, clothes, etc,in order to get sex, there would be men who would happily live in a cardboard box. Sex drives innovation and production.

jongee445, porn is not sex. It’s a quite addictive and dangerous substance, which turns its users into moral, physical and mental degradation. It destroys lifes and families, and in some cases, produces serial killers. Watch Ted Bundy’s last interview.
