This is great! NIV is not exactly trash as I once knew some of the folks involved with its creation. But, the King James is excellent as well. Cheers!

The King James version is merely a translation of the Bible into 17th century English. Thee, thou, art, thy, etc. are not “sacred” words. It was simply the way people spoke back then. While it’s a good translation, I prefer something a little more modern that uses the language we speak today.

NIV actually does a better job at translating the Tanach (or, “old testament”) than than most versions, including KJV (which translated the NT before the OT, thereby failing to accurately depict the culture & context in which the NT was written).
It’s just the Brit Chadashah (or “new testament”) that the NIV does….less than a good job. Some translations suffer from “Do it different than KJV at all costs”, even when KJV got it right. The NIV takes it a step farther in the NT, knowingly translates in a deceptive manner so that culture and context are irrelative to the text.

It would help if greater sections of the KJV were understandable to 21st-century readers. Much of the translation is as inaccessible to most readers as Shakespeare is. In addition, the KJV translators worked from less-accurate sources than did the NIV (and most more-recent) translators, so their translations are much less accurate, as well.
