I remember reading an interview he gave some 10 or so years ago in which he stated he hated working in the Hollywood Division (LAPD). He said too many cops (and brass) were ’starstruck’ and between cops who ran into the ‘famous’ and the Hollywood ‘machine’ (including lawyers and publicists) who ‘made things go away’ he asked to be transferred out of Hollywood Division.
I never forgot that interview. Fascinating insight. And as for the words in quotation marks, I did that because those were the words he used.
