ABOUT THE BOOK
Some battles change the course of history: Alamein is one of those. In October 1942, Britain and its allies were in real difficulties: Germany and its Axis partners seemed to be triumphant everywhere. It was in North Africa that the stand was made, that the tide of World War II began to turn. Iain Gale tells this dramatic story through seven characters, revealing the flow of battle, the strategies, the individual actions and skirmishes, the fear, the determination, the extraordinary courage on both sides.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Iain Gale was born in 1959 in London. He has strong Scottish and military roots. He is the Editor of the Scottish National Trust magazine and Art critic for Scotland on Sunday. He lives outside Edinburgh.

This book reminded me of the vapid treatments of WW2 one saw in made-for-TV movies back in the 70s.
Shallow treatment of both characters and history, dialogue that made my ears bleed (nearly as bad as Harry Turtledove). Why do some readers INSIST on cheesy German accents, like Hogan’s Hero’s characters? Germans speaking to other Germans would sound just normal, right? But that was almost endurable compared to the pip-pip-cheerio noble Brits, and FINALLY- WHO THE HELL WERE THE YANKS DRIVING AMBULANCES AROUND THE DESERT? CONFLICTED ABOUT WAR? A little BACKGROUND would, like HELP, DUDE. In short, this book was BLOODY AWFUL!!!
