One of the best English language novels of late 20th Century. Many thanks! Other greats of his that as yet no one seems to have uploaded are Players, Running Dog, and The Names. All are underrated and very relevant to the world today.

Yes, you’re right. As an Austrian, I found it rather funny in a particularly bizarre and subversive way that people from other less historically connected countries would not find resonant. Players and The Names are quite good though.

DeLillo’s excellent (Libra - on the JFK assassination).
You’ll appreciate this - when the Fritzl story broke, the hysterical British media were referring to him as “the most evil Austrian in history” - entirely missing the elephantine point.

The Names is an astonishing novel. The quality of DeLillo’s writing allowing the matching up of Americana to Ancient Greek culture.

Caesar963: I’m ignorant about the “Fritzi story,” haven’t read much DeLillo, & don’t follow the British Press. But, is the point you’re referring to the fact that Hitler was Austrian (sorta)?

You’re as well off not knowing about Fritzl, mooose.
You’re exactly right, the Brits forgot that Hitler was Austrian again. Their knowledge of history is without compare.
