Kevin D Williamson (Author)
Stalin’s gulag, impoverished North Korea, collapsing Cuba…it’s hard to name a dogma that has failed as spectacularly as socialism. And yet leaders around the world continue to subject millions of people to this dysfunctional, violence-prone ideology.
In The Politically Incorrect Guide™ to Socialism, Kevin Williamson reveals the fatal flaw of socialism—that efficient, complex economies simply can’t be centrally planned. But even in America, that hasn’t stopped politicians and bureaucrats from planning, to various extents, the most vital sectors of our economy: public education, energy, and the most arrogant central–planning effort of them all, Obama’s healthcare plan.
In this provocative book, Williamson unfolds the grim history of socialism, showing how the ideology has spawned crushing poverty, devastating famines, and horrific wars. Lumbering from one crisis to the next, leaving a trail of economic devastation and environmental catastrophe, socialism has wreaked more havoc, caused more deaths, and impoverished more people than any other ideology in history—especially when you include the victims of fascism, which Williamson notes is simply a variant of socialism.
Williamson further demonstrates:
Why, contrary to popular belief, socialism in theory is no better than socialism in practice
Why socialism can’t exist without capitalism
How the energy powerhouse of Venezuela, under socialism, has become an economic basket case subject to rationing and blackouts
How socialism, not British colonialism, plunged the bountiful economy of India into stagnation and dysfunction—and how capitalism is rescuing it
Why socialism is inextricably linked to communism
If you thought socialism went into the dustbin of history with the collapse of the Soviet Union, think again. Socialism is alive and kicking, and it’s already spread further than you know.

Wow, what a pile of BS. The author is either very ignorant or a liar. Either way Kevin D Williamson is a propagandist. He is a shill for the corporate elite who benefit greatly by keeping the majority of Americans ignorant. Don’t forget the 3 wars you are now mired in and the 2008 economic crash.

“Ignorant”…
Why Michael, I thought you were dead? Or have you been spiritually reincarnated? Shall I call you “Chris” from now on?

Really, Chris? Just where has socialism succeeded?

Excellent book! I loved it so much i went over to audible and bought it after I listened to half of the torrent.
It’s entertaining enough that you can just laugh along and you’ll end up remembering a few facts here and there. I’m sure it’s an ok book to read, but the combination of wit and delivery make this book just fun.

Love the PIG series almost as much as I enjoy watching liberal heads exploding. Can’t wait to make this available for my students

I agree with Chris.
Forms of Socialism exist in every single country today. Every country has a welfare system of some kind. The best countries on the world have their own National Health Services (UK, Canada, Denmark etc). Every nation pays taxes, which itself is a form of Socialism. Many countries across the globe can own their own water, utilities, energy and public transport and public industries either fully or partly. It’s all Socialism. Socialism does work when the States WANT it to work.
All countries around the globe are mixed economies. This means they have aspects of BOTH Socialism and Capitalism.
Capitalism itself has died many times due to economic crashes. Our nations had to resurrect Capitalism from the dead using our taxes. I don’t begrudge any nation surviving Capitalism, however it’s about time we rethought Globalisation and the people running our Capitalist systems. It could and can be run better — from a Social Democratic view.
From my own point of view, Capitalism itself would work much more easily, if there were less globalisation and more co-ops, charities, non for profit businesses and social enterprises. If it was a complete transparent system that could spread the wealth much more fairly then less people would despise it.
