  Human nature is one of the reasons that Socialism can never work: ambition, greed, competitive behaviour. Intelligence and talent is not equally distributed and therefore a Capitalist environment is needed to allow the swift to do their stuff. It’s cruel but at least an iron fist isn’t required to control society as is the case with socialism.

  God people are dumb when talking about socialism. I guess we should get rid of the military, police, fire departments and (*gasp) social security. First, google the difference between socialism and communism (which you seem to be mistaking it for) and then google the history of socialism and how *some* people claimed that the perfection of socialism was other -isms, including anarchism, btw.

  It wouldn’t hurt if you learned about the French revolution along the way and got a device to help retrieve your heads from your butts.

  Thanks for sharing! I like Piketty’s take on most subjects so this is worth a listen. To those who came here to troll about the word “socialism”, please try to deprogram yourself from the conservative talking heads. Socialist policies run the gamut between authoritarian communism (bad) to the structure of social services in nordic countries (good, overall).
