Thanks for this - it’s the best self-help book I have ever read. If you look past the guff about Toltecs you’ll find a rule book for all your interactions with people.

Guff about the Toltecs lol. I have it on good authority that the Toltecs are looking down on 21st C. man and going: “you clowns have every convenience, luxury and frivolous thing that money can buy and you’re still miserable. In our day the people who toiled 12 hours in the baking sun every day were happier”.

@pbcaddy so true… isn’t it interesting how modernity and all its conveniences has increased a particular sort of sadness/rage/existentialism. Humans have always sought out the meaning of life.. and the complexities of modern life does not compare to the simple days of baking under the sun with simple tasks and duties. We are so overstimulated unless we put in a great amount of effort to live a simple life. But then again, society expects growth and greatness. Pair that with a loss of community and a growing mental health crisis, it is no wonder people were happier back then. If you’re happy and have great family and friends.. you are quite lucky!
