A lazy and wussy ex-gamer, Phil becomes one of the few humans who receive a mysterious alien piece of wetware that allows them to see the world through an augmented-reality interface very similar to those used in an MMORPG game. Guided by its stats and messages, Phil begins to level up, gradually transforming himself and his life. He even opens his own business in order to help his friends and complete strangers who acquire a newfound respect for him, assisting him in his travails.
As Phil continues on the road to self-improvement, guided by his own conscience rather than system messages, he tries to find out more about the mysterious third party that has bestowed such superhuman abilities upon him.

its started to get very boring and annoying. He’s still jumping from one relationship to another, as soon as he gets dumped he meets another girl. Back and forth back and forth. Just like the author’s disgardium series. I really dislike his method of writing relationships, even if he thinks its “realistic” its just so tedious and lame to listen to all the drama when he could be focusing on what everyone wants. Like the MC has gone through 4-5 girls already, be it officially or not serious-ly and the previous ones just vanish as if he’s writing them out of the plot. Yes, the story is pretty slow. The evens of book 1 and 2 can be summarized in a few sentences. So its very drawn out. But its still interesting to listen to. Im just wondering why book 3 has a sci-fi cover. Thats a massive leap in story context when all he’s doing is running around talking to people. Yes thats all he really does in book 1 and 2. Run around and talk to people. Nothing amazing, just him using his powers to talk to people. Things never start going his way. Its up and down constantly. Never giving him or the listener a chance to breathe, to the point where we lose track of what he’s doing and what problem he has to deal with now because within 10 minutes showered him with 10 problems that he has to do, 1 by 1. Then when he finishes, the author pours another batch. the pacing is all wonky.
