*sigh* why do recent authors and scriptwriters keep changing the story of Iliad by making Helen and Paris lovers? The original story of Paris as a simple kidnapper and rapist is much more interesting, especially since everyone knows how it ends.

Much appreciated in whatever state, cabbagedoll. Colleen McCullough wrote many great books set in the ancient world, like Mary Renault.
@batotit - Isn’t it ambiguous whether Helen was compelled, or participated in her own abduction? And what role Aphrodite played in rewarding Paris?
I remember in the Odyssey when Telemachus meets Menelaus and Helen there’s still a tension between them over her possible complicity in the kidnap/escape. It’s many years since I read it, but it’s always more intriguing when the tale is open to question and speculation.

Thank you, thank you, thank You!!! I requested this audiobook and didn’t think I would ever see it, or rather listen to it. But, here it is! I don’t care about the quality, I have heard poor audio from recent releases. I am just glad it is here!
