In a world full to bursting with would-be heroes, Jim couldn’t be less interested in saving the day. His fireballs fizzle. He’s awfully grumpy. Plus, he’s been dead for about 60 years. When a renegade necromancer wrenches him from eternal slumber and into a world gone terribly, bizarrely wrong, all Jim wants is to find a way to die properly, once and for all.
On his side, he’s got a few shambling corpses, an inept thief, and a powerful death wish. But he’s up against tough odds: angry mobs of adventurers, a body falling apart at the seams and a team of programmers racing a deadline to hammer out the last few bugs in their AI.
Mogworld is a comic fantasy novel in the tradition of Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett, and is the debut novel from video-game icon Yahtzee Croshaw (Zero Punctuation).

This is for kids under 12. It is a Harry Potter/DiscWorld knock off. Which sounds good. It is not funny though. It tries to be. Dry humor that is childish. Monotone drab voicing, with a reason.

Great Book, thanks for the upload.

If you were familiar with the author than you would know that this isn’t a child friendly book. Its a satirical story meant to pick apart and criticize concepts that gamers are familiar with, while at the same time being somewhat light-hearted and telling a narrative. If you don’t get it, then you don’t get it, but I wouldn’t bash the narrator who happens to also be the author and creator of the web series Zero Punctuation which lives and breathes on Croshaw’s wit and voice talents.

A good first book from a (then) new author which has really gotten off onto several books who made a LitRPG book before the genre was made and is actually GOOD!
It is according to Yahtzee himself to be heavily inspired by World of Warcraft which he played when he started writing the books, as such anyone who played the it back in the old days will find plenty to recognise about it but still having it’s own spin on things.
Basically you follow a magic student who dies in his first battle and is ressurected by a necromancer who was too good for his powers and managed to give the zombies their own wills.
Throughout the game the “hero” gets mutilated, beaten down and abused by pretty much everyone and it is meant as very brittish humour in that way as he often feels like the only rational person around but also gets a strange connection to the game developers.
4/5 because it is far from a great book like Jam, but it is a strong enough book on itself that I would heartily recommend it to anyone who played Vanilla WoW, or today, who may want to give a GOOD LitRPG book a go, one that doesn’t actually mention levels and stuff in any ways most LitRPG books does by taking it too far.

Bargain Bin Pratchett with no charm or any real wit to speak of.
It’ll kill some time, but it’ll be a slow, dry, rather bland death for those hours.
