Your right mist the harem thing is getting a bit old and they can really get in the way of a good story, i like this guys summoner series, but he doesnt overwhelm the story with graphic sex, so i hope this one follows that route

Will try, but like others am quite sick of the way sex/harem has now taken over the litrpg field. Its almost going the way of paranormal, which has been totally destroyed by the mills and boon romantics.

I think the LitRpg field really appeals to a portion of people who feel powerless to women.. And the harem stuff is a deep seeded fantasy… Idk I tried to skip the harem portions but some are so ingrained I have to stop reading.

Unfortunately most of the books with harem elements seem to be written by immature writers with questionable sexual knowledge. Maybe its a form of compensation for them ?

I’d say rather than questionable sexual knowledge, it’s more the author being comfortable with expressing either his personal fetishes, or expressing the fetishes of their characters.
There again I haven’t read this particular book, but I am a fan of adult novels formed around the litrpg genre. I don’t personally mind harem as a sub-genre, though I honestly prefer a singular romantic interest (I just think it has better character development when you only have to focus on one heroine).
Just my opinion, and I’m just a random pervert on the interwebs, so take that as you will I suppose.

In my opinion it is a substitute that subverts tropes. It ruins the damsel in distress tropes and the dude is disposable trope. Because there are too many women for one to be extremely significant. All of them being a significant part of the team. The guy isn’t disposable because everyone relies on him and none of the other women will let him chase after one.
It also helps hook an audience better especially men. Depending on your taste in one a very specifically described woman may not be your thing. However multiple women with different personalities has a greater likely hood of you liking one of them even is one you outright hate. It is the old love triangle in male form. Instead of women picking which team they are on it is men.
Harems can be done poorly, making the women disposable or too numerous recognize the difference will ruin the harem and defeat the point. It really helps if a person is out of their world because they can be used for exposition and insider knowledge that the character would have no chance at all by himself. Most people don’t even recognize an infodump in this state. The more women the more they can do it and get away with it. Add a flash back or backstory to make it seem relevant to the story instead of an out of place and completely convenient info dump.

It was fun the first few times… I guess? Its already been done to death in anime and isekai manga. If I see another loser MC get a harem of elf girls or animal girls one more time I’m going to lose my hoopla. I’m tired of all this desperate virgin fantasy. If the story isn’t good, no amount of sexy female voice actor moaning or seductive flirting will ever make the story good. Any audio book with a cover that has 2-3 girls clinging all over the main character is an instant ignore.
Also this book is okay, subpar. I won’t be coming back for the second book.
