just a heads up after having read the story. it’s an hour and a half before it connects to The Orville. The first half is all historical fiction about 1920s and 1930s Germany. So, if you’re into that, it’ll be easier to get through.
There’s no actual connection to the show’s plot, so you could ignore the book and miss nothing, or you could read the book without knowing anything about The Orville other than it’s “almost Star Trek” and you’d be caught up.
It was decent enough, but for someone who’s expecting an actual Orville story, I feel i wasted my 3 hours.

Understanding the first half may seem pointlessly long for some, I feel it is an important element for at least two reasons.
One, it may allow the reader to relate more closely to the situation one of the prime characters is experiencing. IMO that is critical. But perhaps not for everyone. Either because it is more than you feel was required, or you have no interest in this aspect of the story.
Second, and this is more my own interpretation, but I feel it may even intend to insert a Twilight Zone-like afterthought which begs the reader to ask a question of their own existence.
I realize it sounds vague, but I prefer to avoid spoilers. Skip the first half (approx. 90 min), or don’t. I’m glad I didn’t.

Thanks so much for this upload. It’s a pity Seth couldn’t get to film this. He may still might and I think it may translate better in the originally-conceived medium.
