—-Book Info—-
Roland, Eddie, Susannah, Jake, and Jake’s pet bumbler survive Blaine the Mono’s final crash, only to find themselves stranded in an alternate version of Topeka, Kansas, one that has been ravaged by the superflu virus. While following the deserted I-70 toward a distant glass palace, they hear the atonal squalling of a thinny, a place where the fabric of existence has almost entirely worn away. While camping near the edge of the thinny, Roland tells his ka-tet a story about another thinny, one that he encountered when he was little more than a boy. Over the course of one long magical night, Roland transports us to the Mid-World of long-ago and a seaside town called Hambry, where Roland fell in love with a girl named Susan Delgado, and where he and his old tet-mates Alain and Cuthbert battled the forces of John Farson, the harrier who—with a little help from a seeing sphere called Maerlyn’s Grapefruit—ignited Mid-World’s final war.

Why, oh why, would anyone rip an audiobook into flac?
September 2nd, 2017
awesome lossless quality thanks
September 2nd, 2017
Turns out there is a thing such as TOO MUCH quality. Though it is appreciated,it’s the realism that makes a good fantasy. And no one likes to get Flac (see what I did there). But still we thank you for uploading.

FLAC for audiobooks is nuts.
Anyway, if you have Sennheiser headphones and Monster audio cables, this is for you.

@pyrometheous
I presume you posted book II:
http://audiobookbay.la/audio-books/dark-tower-ii-the-drawing-of-the-three-stephen-king/
That went through as a “Guest” upload.
If that happens, just log in and post the same torrent and the Guest one will be deleted.
see http://audiobookbay.la/forum/faqs/accidental-guest-uploads-why-and-what-to-do/

FYI, “Guest” is the default account that the site uses if your login expires. The original uploader then cannot modify it. I can edit or delete them if necessary.

@Gweilo, ah, gotcha, yeah I put in the wrong username for that. I think I’ve fixed it now though.
@Dinglebox, @Darthpunk69, @Gweilo
I’m ripping some audiobooks as flac out of the frustraition I’ve had finding most audiobooks as MP3 64kbs/32kbs. It might seem excessive, but you can always down convert them for your own personal use. I just wanted to supply the best quality I could. I’ve also added the .txt files to make them easy to import into Booksonic (what I’m currently using for audiobooks).
Anyway, I hope it’s not too inconvenient a format for you guys, I’ll be uploading the other books in FLAC as well over the next month or so.

@Gweilo, the forum isn’t letting me make an account, and is saying that my username is spam. Anyway, http://audiobookbay.la/audio-books/dark-tower-ii-the-drawing-of-the-three-stephen-king-stephen-king/ is the new one.

@pyrometheous
OK, I deleted the Guest torrent.
I can’t see your name on the forum ban list, so I don’t know what the issue is. Send me an email at
m9e7shybwe@snkmail.com with the name and email you’re using and the exact response you get and I will see if I can work it out.
I’m halfway through listening to this very book in 32 kbps MP3, and am perfectly happy with it. Also it’s chapterised and not in CD chunks.
I would never do audiobooks in FLAC myself, but if you have the bandwidth and the space to seed it, it’s fine. Just think it’s bit quixotic.
Notes: The cover image for this torrent does not display. I use UltraImg.com to host images, free and so far reliable. Better than hotlinking to another site.
Keywords: The “related books” list come from this. So don’t repeat the title there. Will link to nothing except itself.

PS — also advise your IP. Most blocks are based on that.
September 4th, 2017
@Gweilo, gotcha, I think it was probably the IP address, I’m going through a VPN, but that’s easy enough to disable temporarily.
The FLAC files keep the track information intact, so you can go to a specific track if needed. Personally, compressed audio (rather, too compressed audio) make my ears scream. So I’ve decided to undergo the task of buying the CD’s for my audiobooks, and ripping them in FLAC.
Unfortunately book 3 (the next on my listen list) isn’t ripping on the first CD, it’s a bit scratched and I think I need to get it repaired. But I hope to get that sorted out soon.
I decided to upload them as a torrent to act as a backup in case the worst happens to my PC. But I can see why you’d say it’s quixotic. I think I might just be a bit spoiled, my wife and I are big audiophiles.
Thanks for all the information though. I really appreciate it. I’m gonna try the forums again here in a min and see.

Thx pyro,
Always appreciate a good quality rip, and as you said above, we can convert it to whatever quality we want this way. Sounds perfect to me and DuckPlumber is another uploader how likes good rips.
But sometimes 64k is all you get like audble, they are already downloaded as 64k for aax files and upsizing is pointless. Can’t stand 32k or less though, even on my crappy phone they sound distorted but never have a problem with 64k or better.

I too agree with pyrometheous,
especially the 32kbps & 48kbps rips, they are almost always just trash on the ears.
a lot that say they are 64kbps turn out to only be just 62kbps but as it is I do when I find different torrents of the same audiobooks, always try to D/L the largest one 1st especially if they do not mention the sound format. Just upload & give me 128-320kbps any day & I will be most happy.
February 26th, 2018
AND Unabridged to all of you out there reading these!!
128kbps++, Unabridged & Do PLEASE Mention ALWAYS when they are Unabridged, Please, Please, Please..
It’ll make a difference in my decision on which to D/L of 2 if one is slightly high like 128k but doesn’t mention what form of the book while a 64k mentions Unabridged, I’ll go for the 64k!
as long as it is not less than 64k, owe oh my!!

I try my best to make sure everything is labeled appropriately, because I too will look for a specific version of an audiobook at a higher bitrate. So I’ve tried to model my uploads to reflect what I would be looking for in an audiobook myself. I almost get paranoid about all of the information before the upload, make sure I have the correct narrator, description, tech info, abridged/unabridged. But it always feels really good to see the final version uploaded.
Once I’m done with my current stack of CDs to rip, I’m going to revisit my older uplaods (this one included) to chapterize them and re-upload.
