Anybody else noticed that in half of the recent Big Finish stuff, the audio levels jump around wildly all the time? Sounds like Big Finish have got a new trainee who doesn’t know what a compressor is and certainly can’t be bothered to ride any faders. It’s hard to listen to ‘The Master of Callous’ without constantly adjusting the volume. Otherwise it’s good.
One recent story had frequent clip-clop footstep sounds that were louder than the dialog, for unwanted comic effect.

Indeed, I ended up running ‘Only the Good’ through Audacity’s compressor AND limiter, just to protect my ears. Didn’t used to be like that and the old ones are still fine for headphone listening.
