Please go to your local store. Take a book or a CD from the rack. Walk out with it. If you are willing to do that, then understand you are doing the equivalent here. Stealing. Obviously you’re fine with it; but you have yet to identify yourself, or tell me where you work or live so I can return the favor. So that means you’re a coward and not worth the time anyway. Enjoy your stealing. Karma works and it will come back to you.

I would Bob but your writing is shite. I won’t buy shite.

Sure thing Bob post your personal details first and I will reply to you.

Fine. Wasn’t referring to you. But it seems there is a belief this is fair use. All right then. All the best. Hope people enjoy. : )

Bob -
Sites like this actually help authors more than they hurt them, by and large.
Before clicking on this, I’d heard of neither you, nor your work. It’s not available in my local book store, library or anywhere I frequent for my reading.
Now I know you not only write, but have an audiobook made of your work - a labor, time and money-intensive product. This website lets me try your book out - if I like it, I’ll buy a copy. If I don’t, then I haven’t wasted my time and money, and you won’t have wasted a copy on me.
March 2nd, 2015
Hey Bob,
If one of your books sold a million copies, how much money off that would you make?
As a writer, do you feel it’s unjustified that some one like E.L. James writes Fifty Shades of Pure Crap, and not only gets on best seller lists but a movie deal too?
I’m sorry that as an author I had never heard of you before either. Perhaps you should look at this site as free advertising. Sure, you don’t get a bump for it, but maybe after listening to a book that person will encourage someone to buy your books or speak (hopefully favorably) about them.

Hey Bob!
Thanks for putting this up for us to download.

Hey Bob,
Chris Columbus, Owlman112 & a few others that wrote comments in the Area 51 comments section have a very good point regarding how this site does more help for the author than harm. Previously I had also never heard of you and now I have. I understand that you have put your blood & soul into your work and I am surprised that you don’t want to share it with the world & I don’t mean for free. Those that can afford to pay do & those that don’t because of circumstances doesn’t make them evil, just unfortunate. Reading should be a right and not a privilege for only the people who can afford it. I am sure you remember being a starving artist & what you may have had to do to succeed. So before you condemn a small few who may not go & buy your book after hearing it & would love to go to the bookstore & buy it, not everyone has endless resources or earns above the poverty line. The majority of the people who do not buy are the people who are the unentitled. So here is my name & address:
Unentitled Nobody
Soon to be homeless
Nowhere, Canada
Profession: Disabled

P.S. I am absolutely sure the only thing I have to steal that you would want is your audio book!
March 3rd, 2015
Dear Bob,
Most of us here do understand your feeling on seeing your hard work going out without any remuneration. But actually I would say it’s a better advertisement rather than a loss to you. In my case I usually download books on ratings. If I feel the books good, I buy the rest of the series from audible. But do understand, not everyone can afford the purchase, but the word of the mouth gives better advertisement than the paid ones on websites. I would believe my friend who tell me about a book rather than a write up by someone I don’t know on the internet.
March 3rd, 2015
Well, I am happy to say, after reading the descriptions of said work, I find that I have absolutely no interest in it, just not my cup of tea.
So, this posting enabled me to determine my disinterest with no need to spend any money for an item that would have been, to me, just a waste!

Hey Bob! I’m glad you could chat with me again. I’m going to post your comment below because the admin deleted it again :)

Bob I believe in Karma too, but that’s not why I clean and cook for disabled veterans, remove trash on rivers and trails, “Ring the bell” for salvation army, regularly help at Habitat for Humanity and other events like rides or walks. I made cupcakes for “Spooky Trail” this Halloween (it’s for little kids). I’m also an (unpaid) moderator on this website. For generations my family have supported our Public Libraries and local Public Broadcasting. I think my karma is better tended that yours.
I agree with your analogy of ebooks and audiobooks. What I don’t understand is why I can sell, share or donate a normal book/CD/DVD but I can’t do those things with an ebook? Please explain why you believe in that analogy before the sell (or theft) but not after. In other words, if you can sell an ebook, why don’t I have that right?
If you do think they are the same, you should add that to your copyright language. That anyone (with proof of purchase) can transfer ownership of said book to a library, person, institution or other entity, for unrestricted use. If you do that, I’ll never share those books on the internet.

While I don’t necessarily agree with Bob, deleting his post’s unless crude, foul language etc, I definitely don’t agree with. He has the right to say what he wants and we have a right to disagree or agree with him and have a dialog.
Censorship because someone doesn’t agree with you is the worst censorship. Its petty and unnecessary.
People have a way of digging their own holes, we shouldn’t be the ones holding the shovels. Lets not kid ourselves, its Bobs material, he owns it.
With all that being said, I’m an old school uploader from the golden days of Demonoid, and have been doing this from the very beginning. My uploads from 10 years ago are still floating around the Internet. My heart belongs to the Bit-Torrent Protocol.
Keep it up Dallis, but from personal experience, be careful what enemies you make. The courts will not agree with us, at least not yet and probably not in the foreseeable future. Bob has enough money to bury you if he gets mad enough. And don’t think they cant find you. It doesn’t take much. Peace

Thanks Ray♥ I think the admin removes comments that are either offensive to the poster, community or irrelevant in a positive aspect to the content of the post. He is a nice guy and protective of our community. :)
Bob couldn’t find his ass. LOL
I could walk to Bob’s house from mine. :)

Hey Dallis, thank you once again!
Ah these comments of this Bob… starting to get really amusing. References to karma? Really? Are you really that pathetic?
On the other hand, deleting Bob’s comments is even more pathetic on admin’s side, so I would plea not to do it. He’s an author, and he has the right to protest. At least we owe him that much. How or why he does it is other can.
While we’re at it, I always buy the book after listening if I think it’s really good. I just can’t live with myself thinking somebody spent his time and spilled his creativity to give me this much pleasure, so I go and buy it. I must admit, it’s not often, but I do buy things I wouldn’t buy anyway had I not had the opportunity to test drive them for free.

Hi All,
I agree Bob does have a right to complain even if it does makes him look foolish. I’m sure as CEO of Cool Gus Publishing and the author he wants to get his cut from anyone who reads/listens to the book(s). And to that extent, I agree with what he’s saying.
However, in regards to Dallis comments about modifying the copyright laws to allow transference of electronic formatted material, let’s face it, that’s never going to happen.
Once a book has finished the editing stage, it’s already digitized so the work of an ebook is already complete. An audiobook takes a little longer, but I would bet it’s not more than 40-80 hours to have a track laid down.
From that point on, both are in electronic storage and distribution issues with virtually no cost involved.
If it wasn’t for the unrealistic prices (read profits) set by publishing houses and distribution companies, then sites like this wouldn’t be far fewer in number and have less of a following.
I have yet to meet anyone who wouldn’t pay a reasonable amount of money for media that once created costs virtually nothing to maintain. So Bob, with all due respect, you should realize that you and publishers like yourself are the reason that these sites exist. The level of piracy is in direct proportion to the level of greed that publishing houses demonstrate.
Personally, you don’t have to worry about me ever downloading your books. I’ll never listen to your books or purchase another media from Cool Gus Publishing again. And while I’m sure I will not effect your company’s bottom line, I can only hope that anyone who reads this will support this action and pass it along until Bob apologizes to Dallis and others for his rude comments (past and present).

Bob,
I have not listened to your book yet, but just wanted to say my part.
I am disabled, and cannot work since I lost my legs. The income I receive from workers compensation is minimal, and can barely pay my medical bills, food, mortgage and the cost of raising my son. I enjoy Sci-fi audiobooks because it allows me to escape my reality for a while and just take myself away from life and all that it entails.
In my case, what I do, is listen to the audiobook/series, if I enjoy it, or I like the author in general, then when I can afford to, I buy the e-books of that same book/series and give it to my son to read (he prefers reading the text, while I enjoy the audio).
I just do not have the funds to spend on these books all the time, and I feel it wrong to deprive someone of the only thing that can relax them just because they can’t afford it all the time.
To date I have listened to roughly 250 books, and out of all of them, I have purchased maybe 160 of them for my son so far. I hope you can understand that not all of us are trying to steal your book. There are lots of folks like myself who probably cannot afford to buy every book every time.
I know legally, it is wrong, and I can imagine you looking at all of us thinking we are theives and scum, but try and understand that not all are doing this for malicious reasons. There are most definitely folks out there, and here, that have extremely high income, and can afford every novel both digital, physical and audio, but choose to pirate them because they don’t want to ‘waste’ their money on books. Most small or ‘indie’ authors pour their blood and sweat into these books, to get paid less than people think. Frankly this disgusts me that the ‘upper-class’ folks can buy all the watches, jewelery, cars and drugs they please, but will not pay for their books or software, and I despise this type.
I hope you can understand this. :(

Next time you pull up to a gas station. The prices are certainly too high. Fill up your tank. Drive away without paying. Would you do it, since they do work of blood money? I paid the price for that blood money in uniform.
Since you think I’m Exxon or any of those companies, you are good to go. But I just wonder if you would do it if people knew who you were? If you were on the video? It’s just kind of curious how hiding behind the anonymity of the Internet allows people to do things they wouldn’t do in broad daylight.
This isn’t a library. I’ve given away thousands of books to people. I give away books ebooks free to libraries for download. As a former servivemember, I give any veteran free books. But I do have to say, some of the arguments I find here are kind of sad.
I guess I’m the bad guy since I got offended that my creativity gets taken for free. All I ask is that any of you who work for some company or for yourself, please tell me how I can take what you do for free? We all have talents. Please let me know how can I exchange mine for yours? Since you are taking mine, it’s only fair.
What service do you provide so I can avail myself of it? Dallis24? Please let me avail myself of your services and we will call it even? You spend a lot of time on this. I have no problem giving away free eBooks. So let’s work together?
Thanks. We’re all good.
Then we will have complete understanding. Thanks.

Thanks very much for this…
You wouldn’t happen to have the rest of the books in this series would you?

Hello Bob,
I purchased your books and audiobooks for a long time. I enjoyed them and recommended them to friends. Then I was injured and had to sell EVERYTHING in order to pay my medical bills, rent, and to eat. I no longer have a disposable income to pay to get everything back. I’m lucky I even have this computer I’m typing on. It is because of websites like these that I am able to replace what was lost. I will have you know that I haven’t downloaded anything from this site of yours since I read your rant that I did not previously own. Now, my high school best friend is a PUBLISHED writer and told me that I am allowed to “make or obtain copies of any book in any format that I had previously owned”. As such I have used this site and its sister site for ebooks to replace most of what has been lost. You are behaving like an ass without even acknowledging the situations of other people.

Hello Bob,I have not read or listened to any of your books yet, but just wanted to give you my two cents.
I am disabled, and cannot work (Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, etc.)and it took 4 years of no pay to finally get SSI disability. The income I receive barely pay my medical bills (I go every 2-3 months and make my pain meds stretch since they only give me a one month supply), food, mortgage and the cost of everything else that is a must in life take more than what I get. If I didn’t have my wife to help me I would be living on the streets.
I have been reading Sci-fi/fantasy books since I was 7. Now I listen to audiobooks because it gives me more freedom not to have my nose in a book all the time. But books have always been my escape from reality and now more than ever I need that escape because of the pain I’m in.
In my case, what I do, is listen to the audiobook/series, if I enjoy it, or I like the author in general, then I usually look for more at my local library. But being an avid reader sometimes I find it’s just easier to download something from here instead of tracking it down at the library.
I just don’t have the dollars to spend on books anymore, and I feel it wrong to deprive someone the only thing that can help them just because they can’t afford it.
Also I share my thoughts on authors/books with others and although I can’t say how many buy stuff from my recommendations I do know my brother does. He gave me access to his audible account years ago. So far this year he has purchased 18+ books on audible. He told me he spent almost 2000.00 last year on audible. (I think he spent more, wish I was still a high paid Ironworker like he is)
The thing is I get so mad about the piracy laws today. I used to loan people my books or sell them to a used book store or donate them somewhere. Now supposedly an e-book or an audiobook I purchase I have no rights to do any of those things. That is completely ridiculous and don’t tell me it’s stealing cause (and I’m Still young) I remember back in the day when my father and everyone else used to make mix tapes for people.
So my question to you Bob Mayer since your older than my father how many mix tapes did you make? Were you stealing from the artist? Have you ever tasted some grapes in the store before buying them? (or anything else in the store that wasn’t a sample) have you taken a pen or some office supplies and said well it doesn’t matter it doesn’t cost that much. Sure everyone has done something like that and guess what no matter how little it costs if you take it your stealing.
People don’t want to understand that if you steal a .05 cent pencil or a 2000.00 ring it’s all the same. If you fib on your taxes cause hey they will never know and everyone does it you are a thief and a liar. So we all live in glass house’s so none of us should be casting stones.
If you are really honest think about how many rules or laws you broke just today. If you drove and went over the speed limit even a little you are breaking the law. we all do it and it doesn’t make it right but unless I’m really hurting you suck it up and enjoy your own piece of this cosmos as best you can. there is no need to cast stones at us sinners when we could cast them right back.
I hope all authors make a decent amount of money so they will continue to amuse us. But I believe all books and audiobooks should be available at the local library for those that can’t afford to spend the money.
I can’t do much but I am planning on trying to make my own audiobooks of old books I love. So if I’m any good at it I guess I could offer some assistance in recording your next book :). But I have never listened to your stuff so you will have to give me a raincheck till I do Bob.

thanks for all that you share Dallis

Geez.
He’s an angry fella.
I like your work.
I would like to think its okay for the world to appreciate your accomplishments, even OUTSIDE of being fortunate enough to afford every nice thing in the world.
Its still adds to world culture.
But that’s some kind of silly altruism or something.
