I've never made an Avatar before and because it took me so many hours and attempts to get it right,
I decided to share what worked for me. ♥♥♥These are the basic steps to create and post an avatar:- Prepare a photo to use as an Avatar
- Create Photo-hosting account
- Link TheAudioBookBay to your avatar
Prepare a photo to use as an Avatar:Open your picture in MS Paint.
Reduce the Physical Size of the photo/Correcting the Ratio:
Click the "Crop" tool and crop picture (as needed), making it as square as possible. There is a counter at the bottom of the window that tells you the size. Just get the frame where you want it for you avatar, and make the "number X number" as close to the same as possible...like 500 x 500 or 300 x 300, whatever.
Just know the picture WILL stretch to become square when uploaded to TheAudiobookBay.
If you screw up just click the "UNDO button" and start over.
When you get what you want. Click the "Crop button"
*If you don't know how to crop, "Youtube" it.
Reduce the Pixel Size of the photo:Just below the "Crop button" is the "Resize button" - click it.
Choose the "Pixel" radio button.
Enter up to 300 x 300 pixels (you don't have to be exact, but stay 300 or under on both).
Save your work:Use the drop-down "File Menu" to save as jpeg and enter a new file name (unless you want to overwrite the original picture - not recommended).
There are two ways to upload your picture. By hosting your photo you get a clear, pretty, image.Create Photo-hosting account:Create an account at
Imgur.comClick the button "Upload"
Drag and drop your photo to the upload window, or you can choose "Select File on my Computer".
Select your avatar image.
To the right, click on "Direct Link" icon; it flashes green to show it's copied.
That address in now saved on your clipboard (computer memory).
Link TheAudioBookBay to your avatar:Open
TheAudioBookBay.to Click on Forum.
Log in.
Go to "Profile"
On the left, Under "Modify Profile" Click on "Forum Profile Information".
Click the "I have my own pic:" Radio Button.
Delete the "HTTP:\" from the Text box.
Put your cursor in the text Box, Right Click and select "Paste"
Your picture should appear at the top of page. Give it a few moments to connect.
If the picture looks OK...at the bottom of the page, click on the "Change Profile" button.
Done.
If your Avatar looks wrong check your aspect ratio.
If it doesn't display at all, check the Link Address. Also check that the Pixel Sizes are less than 300x300.
