I really enjoyed "Lost in Space" and I've been searching for a book series that isn't hard sci/fi and focuses more on the "adventure" genre, just happening in space, possibly unexplored space. I feel like the new Star Trek and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies have had a good interpretation of what I am looking for. Humor and action are definitely appreciated. Any ideas, gang?

“The Road to the Rim” has the very young Ensign Grimes setting out as a passenger en route to join his first Survey Service posting, but on the way there is an encounter with pirates.
