Andrew E. Kaufman - Twisted:  A well told story but I guessed the outcome 30 minutes into the story. Sad Intriguing to start, long (for me) in the middle, twisting reveal in the last 1/4 of the book.

If you like a deep decent into madness, this is for you!
Med-slow pace, some holes but well told, Good Narration, Good story. 3 stars.

Hi all, I'm the new kid on the block and came across this site while surfing for audio books, at the moment I'm listening to Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant series as I enjoyed them so much when they first came out in print.

Magic Cats Series by Sofie Kelly. I made it into book 4 but stopped. The books are nice light reading, which I like sometimes, but there was not much humor, adventure or emotional tension and the plots and people were not very interesting. As "Light Reading" books go, I give these 3 stars (OK but nothing special). Very good narration and pace.

Jump Starting the Universe by John David Buchanan.

This was a fun listen. A lot like Hitcher Guide but not as funny. Actually fairly low on humor. Sad Still, a very G-rated, interesting YA adventure. 3 stars

A Nameless Witch by A. Lee Martinez, Narrated by Ann Marie Lee

A fun fairy-tale fantasy! I really liked the bloodthirsty demon-duck! Cheesy Good pace, good story but the supporting characters should have had more chance to contribute the quest. I liked it. 4 stars Smiley

Starforce series by BV Larson: Military Scifi.

No boring military jargon. Fast paced action/adventure. Character depth isn't there but the stories are good ( I'm on book 4). All the books are the same basically: AI aliens, fighting, we loose, we win, we meet strange aliens allies, repeat. LOL I'm not really a military-scifi person but the stories are interesting and exciting. 4 stars!

Andy McDermott - Atlantis (1 & 2). These were fun "Indiana Jones" type books. Lots of fast paced adventure, lite romance, humor with good story, character interaction and dialog...for this kind of book. I really wish more authors would hire a man for male parts and a woman for female. Anyway, very good writing and narration. 4.0 stars.

Chewing Rocks by Alan Black.

Young Adult "Girl Power" space adventure. If you liked the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer you'll like this one too. I give this 2 1/2 stars but if your thing is YA "fun reads" you can add another star. This one lacks enough humor and romance for me so I took that star off. Wink  ... Merry Christmas!  Kiss

More Alan Black..

Larry Goes to Space
&
Metal Boxes 1-4

Although I really like and recommend both, the characters and stories are sometimes inconsistent but If you're looking for fun, light, space adventure (Like Scrapyard Ship), Alan Black is your man.

William R. Forstchen - After 01 - One Second After

Good book: A very realistic tale of a small mountain town adjusting to life after an EM Pulse destroys America's power grid and all electrical/electronic stuff. It has solid characters and a sobering, heartfelt story. 4.5 stars

David Eddings complete works.
Almost finished the Belgariad series, few hours to go on the last book Enchanter's End Game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Belgariad
then moving on to Malloreon series https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Malloreon (another 5 books), then the rest of his works. many many happy hours(hopefully) to go.

if you have the time,Belgariad is 100 hours long ,then another 80 hours Malloreon, then god knows how many more for the stand alones,if you like epic fantasy this could be worth a look.

DEATHANDS....

Cowboy, survivalist, post apocalyptic, adventure....

I've LONG collected and shared DEATHLANDS but just started listening past the first book (3 years ago) and WOW ... what a change! It took me to book 3 but I've starting to seriously like it.  Warning: good characters die off fast like in Game Of Thrones.

As it's up to book 120+, there must be a few immortal characters.

Zach Bohannon - Empty Bodies (Zombie Story)

Both books were good, your average Zombie tale, very good narration and I liked the characters.

Tom Hollands Book: In the shadow of the sword.
It's about the rise of monotheism and then especially islam with a big view on the political shifts of late antiquity to the early middle ages.
The fact that i am listening to it for the fifth time now should probably be an indicator, it's a really great book. Tom Hollands books just pull me into the history, the way they are written i can imagine how the people and situations were back then.

BTW: pls someone upload more Tom Holland, he is like a drug.

I made it to book 77 of the (post apocalyptic) "Deathlands" series. I like the stories but frustrated when they blowup irreplaceable stuff to survive. [4 Stars]

I then switched to Peter Meredith's "Undead World" series....all 9 books! I loved the stories, pace, narrator and all the characters but especially Jillybean! [5 Stars] Smiley

I've been planning to read  The Dark Tower series for quite a while.
And hearing the movie was coming out I wanted to get in ahead of that. Though reviews say it's pretty crap.

I went off Stephen King before though, his novels just go on and on and on and on ... readable, but really just filling time. Most of his doorstops could be cut by 75%, and be the better, IMHO.  King's short stories though are always worth reading.

I decided to give him another chance.

Currently I'm in Book 4 of 7.
I'm using the books from this: https://audiobookbay.lu/audio-books/the-dark-tower-series-chapterized-stephen-king/
Read by George Guidall and Frank Muller.
All chapterised. Sounds pretty good, but a few glitches in Books 1 & 2, but nothing lost I think.

A new uploader is doing them as FLAC. Would not be able to fit one book on my Walkman...

The story does meander, but it is going somewhere. In the intro King says it's his attempt at an American version of Lord of the Rings.
-- More or less so, but 3 or 4 times longer.

Jill James - Time of Zombies Triliogy: Titles hint at an amazing love story but it's not, just good but average Zombie series. 3 stars (average).

Richard Johnson - Dead Drunk I - Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse...One Beer at a Time

Actually I listened to both books but there's a 1.5 book I didn't' have. Sad Anyway, the fratboy humor was annoying at beginning but then calmed and the story got good. I suppose it's a YA Zombie Humor book and I give it 4 stars (Above Average)

Peter Meredith - Undead World 1-9

Amazing series! Jillybean and her zebra Ipes are two of the most enjoyable characters that you will find in any zombie book.

Peter Meredith - The Apocalypse Crusade 1 & 2

These were good but had too much narration in places (book 2). I mostly like Zombie-Drama/Adventure (like "Undead World" series) over Zombie Horror/Military. The Apocalypse Crusades starts as a drama and ends as a war story with that kind of action and therefore, long narration parts.
