After reading people rave about Andy Serkis' narration of The Lord of the Rings, I bought it during the recent Audible sale and started with The Fellowship of the Ring. I also have the books narrated by Rob Inglis as well as the BBC dramatization. I am only at chapter 3, and so far, it's been great. I find this much easier to listen to than Rob Inglis narrated ones, and Andy Serkis certainly brings the words to life.

https://audiobookbay.lu/abss/emperor-of-japan-meiji-and-his-world-1852-1912-donald-keene/Very interesting read on the emperor that 'oversaw' the transformation of Japan and established the emperor system again. 'When Emperor Meiji began his rule, in 1867, Japan was a splintered empire, dominated by the shogun and the daimyos, who ruled over the country’s more than 250 decentralized domains and who were, in the main, cut off from the outside world, staunchly antiforeign, and committed to the traditions of the past. Before long, the shogun surrendered to the emperor, a new constitution was adopted, and Japan emerged as a modern, industrialized state.'

Been listening to V UK - Visitation - Big Finish, what a terrible book, the story could have been ok but the production and narrations are really bad and its been cut to 3 or so hours. Theres also breaks where the producer/writer not sure which explains things. Definitely not one of my favourites. anime.chap has done a good job with the upload and I have no complaints there... https://audiobookbay.lu/abss/v-uk-visitation-big-finish/

In the Mountains of Madness: The Life, Death, and Extraordinary Afterlife of H.P. Lovecraft - W. Scott Poole M4B Shared by:ihophats MP3 Shared by:Haru55A very readable recent biography of Lovecraft, his life and also his influence on weird literature, games, movies, up to the modern day. Poole often references the previous bios, with a sometimes jaundiced eye.

https://audiobookbay.lu/abss/tphe-haunted-bookshop-mysteries-books-1-6-cleo-coyle/After finishing the last book of Laura Gail Black's Antique Bookshop Mystery series, I was looking for a new cozy mystery series. I've been very happy with Cleo Coyle's Haunted Bookshop Mysteries. I finished the first two, and am now listening to the third book, The Ghost and the Dead Man's Library. The unique wrinkle to Haunted Bookshop series is that the main character partners up with the ghost of PI Jack Shepard to solve cases.

Not that unique. That was the premise of the British series Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) in 1969. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgeGcX2U-sIEGWQy3f-gs_99Yn-4KvtKsAnd Harry Dresden is aided by the ghost, Bob.
