I'm generally very well read on most fields of science, and love discussing the topic. I am woefully out of date though on modern astrophysics and quantum physics. These topics I read thoroughly back in the early 2000s. This has me a bit stuck, as I really despise the books that are written for laymen on the topic (chapters making examples involving trains to explain relativity) but I'm probably far enough out of practice that I can't jump into newly released studies and papers (I spent some time trying to wrap my head around topics involving quantum particles including the many proposed ones that have not been observed).

I would love suggestions for things in the middle. Things that discuss modern theories around quantum mechanics and particles, string theory etc... or astrophysics around newer understandings of the makeup of the universe involving dark energy and proposed changes in the understanding around the big bang.

Thanks fellow audiobookers!
