Dear Moderators, The forum search engine, the very same one you want us to use to make sure that we don't double post stuff so that your job is easier, is not, in fact, actually capable of doing it's job. I had used it and found a request for an audiobook I was interested, so I bumped the thread and stared watching it. Then, it vanished. It was the only thread for the book, I Had Checked Using The Forum Search Engine, and it was the only result that came up. So, knowing that the forum search engine can't, in fact, search the entire forum, but only whatever sub-forum you're in, I tried using google to search the whole thing. Did not work. Eventually I found the request in a completely unrelated category, after going through EVERY SINGLE ONE.
I just wasted I don't know how much of my life trying to make your broken forum search engine actually do it's job, and I've had it. If you have any question as to why you've got so many double or triple requested books, THAT'S WHY! Because users are tired of trying to make your broken forum search engine work for them, so they just look wherever seems reasonable to them, and then stop. Can it please be made to search the ENTIRE forum, and not just a sub forum?!? Because I can promise you, until you do, YOU will have a lot of work fixing multiple requests for the same book.
Either way, I throwing in the towel (as I imagine many other users have already). From now on, whatever genera category Amazon places an audiobook in, that's what I'm going to search, and if it's not there, I'm going to add it, and if it goes away from there, I'm put it back! So, my advice, besides fixing the search engine, is to make it a posting rule that you must use Amazon to determine in which category an audiobook request belongs (or which of the multiple requests wins and gets to stay, if - or rather when - users don't follow that rule), because that's the only simple hack not-a-real-fix I can see to this search engine problem!
But you should really fix the search engine so that it can search the ENTIRE forum, if that's possible!
Sincerely, 7OO Tnega Terces
P.S. - I advise using Amazon and not Audible, as Amazon sub-categorizes into things like Urban Fantasy, where Audible would just stop at Fantasy.
