I wonder if he read this post because the last dozen or so uploads are fantasy and young adult/teen. I was off-line for a week and came back to see we were out of the heavy politics and religion cycle and into the Chick lite, LGBT cycle while the SyFy cycle is waiting to take over.
It'll happen folks.

I checked out one of AkemiAsh's uploads at random. Well seeded, a clean m4b rip, seems complete. And also has decent description, cover image and genres.
He has no matching forum membership and isn't filling requests. He just has a pile of files and is uploading them as quick as possible -- no one could rip 40 books in a day.
From a quick look, they're all recent releases, and none of them books or authors I've heard of; not to be too disparaging, but generic stuff that might be popular at the moment but soon forgotten.
And he seems to be going through his trove by genre, so maybe the gay flood is passed. Now it's fantasy.
I expect he'll be done in a week or so at this rate.
So nothing to get excited about either way. Not garbage, but not anything I would spend time listening to (yet). Maybe he'll move on to do a load of Booker Prize winners. Who knows.

My five cents: I think the amount of LGBTQ related uploads are close to trolling. It's really possible to miss something new and worthy amongst the flood of them. I'm not against them as such, but really?!!  I'm glad someone said it. I'm certainly not against the gay related uploads, but is it really necessary to upload them in masses all at once, page after page? Lately, someone named AkemiAsh has been doing just that and it's annoying. |

Limits are easily circumvented. It only takes a minute to create a new account, or he could upload them as "Guest". We can't monitor uploads and react in real time. I find it tedious to page past them myself, but it's not his fault that the site default displays only 5 uploads at a time with no filtering. The faster he posts the sooner he runs out. I hope. |

It's not a problem. We just need a convenient way to find what we are looking for - hence the idea to filter out specific category or categories.
Selecting a single category will not work, because, I like to view books from all categories but one. Judging by the comments in this thread there are a lot of people like me.
It is not a matter of restricting or limiting the rights of others but giving us more options that will satisfy our need without doing so.
That being said, I wanna thank all uploaders, for their generosity, as well as the people who run this site.

"The influx of these books is literally because I just learned to do this, and I learned because I live in Brazil, my best friend lives in the US, and she just found out she has cancer. All of this, everything I’m uploading is for her because Google Sharing doesn’t support so many files at once, and I didn’t know how else to get these for her so she could go to chemo therapy. I even uploaded the young adult and fantasy series I know she’ll like. I don’t really care what kind of people lash out. And to be honest man, I don’t know how to upload shit in large bundles and I had like 4 days before she started chemo."

OK... pretty odd way to do it if true. There are easier and faster ways to send files person-to-person than using a world-wide P2P network. Just stick them all on a 64 GB thumb drive and post it, e.g. I sent 15 GB of files to my sister using Google Drive, free. That's at least 50 audiobooks. Could just delete after she downloaded and do another batch if necessary. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He is sharing books, they are all uploaded within the rules and better tagged and presented than most "experienced" uploaders; it's just the rate he was doing it that caused concern. We do have a loose community here, and to have it overwhelmed without warning by an uploader with an apparently unending stream of one genre was a bit disruptive. |

for those of you who are interested, there is a greasemonkey / tampermonkey script which hides preselected categories in abb. the only downside is that it only hides them, so if you have 3 pages of LGBTQ books, and you are blocking that category, you will end up with 3 blank pages in a row. apart from that, it works quite well. it can be found at https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/37306-hide-category-on-abb and you can edit it so that multiple categories are hidden. |

More erotic romance stories with lots of feels. Anyway, perhaps one reason we do have so many gay books posted here is that other sites are more hostile to them. It may have changed, but MAM used to be very puritanical, for instance. I remember when the common complaint was too many Doctor Who books posted. We created a category just for them. There is a script to hide this or other categories if you want to: Hide Category on ABB. Ask in that thread if you have any problems. |
