In the 1920s Hajj Amin-al-Husseini was the political and spiritual leader of the Palestinian Arabs. A vicious anti-Semite, he led numerous pogroms against Jewish settlers. During World War II, al-Husseini allied himself and his people with Hitler: he lived in Germany, met with Hitler, encouraged "the final solution", and became close friends with Himmler and other Nazis.
After the war, al-Husseini escaped (he would certainly have been convicted at Nuremberg for war crimes) and fled to Egypt. His standing only rose, and in Egypt he was instrumental in fomenting Nazi-style anti-Semitic propaganda there. He also became the mentor to a new generation of radical "Islamo-fascist" Arab leaders. Foremost among them: Yasser Arafat.

Mohammed Amin al-Husseini (1893-1974) is a little-known figure but he is a key-character in the birth of the Palestinian National Movement in order to understand one of the roots of the Israel-Palestinian conflict, a very complex problem until today:

This looks worth checking out; I'm not a big fan of icons though.

Sure icons are to be deconstructed Smiley but it must definitively be a good good book though:

I just listened to Ten Myths About Israel and this guy came up.  Apparently his demonization is largely a smear campaign designed to denigrate all muslims.

There are facts, the nazis loved him very much, he maintained a correspondence with Heinrich Himmler, he was an imam in Berlin, he wanted the final solution to be implemented in the Middle East, crematories in Dothan. Many Arabs in Palestine wished Rommel to win and they wept after his defeat in El Alamein.
