Since the release of the revised edition of the Dark Tower series read by George Guidall, this original Frank Muller reading has become harder to find. A couple of corrupt versions were circulating on the web for years. This copy is complete with no jumbled or missing chapters.

thank you for this. people attempting the Dark Tower at this point should listen to this one, but maybe not until after they’ve listened to the entire series. When King wrote this, he had no idea he’d spend 30 years crafting a universe, so a lot of the things in this book don’t work once you get past book three.
think of this as the “unaired pilot” version, although he never went back and updated book two.

I have this read by Stephen King off cassettes. He does a good job.
Glad to have this one available. George Guidall is simply not as good as Frank Muller or Stephen King. George Guidall reading the new edit of The Gunslinger really ought to be avoided.
Not sure why I don’t already have this read by Frank Muller, unless I’ve misfiled it.

Quality is not so good and the book seems shorter than the other versions. Maine his reading style.

Re quality. It was ripped from cassette. This version long predates things like audible. Probably was never even available on CD. But I’d take a cassette rip of Frank Muller with a bit of white noise over a crystal clear George Guidall version anyday.

Having read the books and listened to Stephen King’s own recording, Frank Muller sounds like shit. He is wildly overdramatic and breathy. The story is wildly dramatic so having the narration add to it is just putting a hat on a hat. If you like him, great. I can’t tolerate him.
