Sounds a bit giallo-ish. The photographic memory thing is silly, …but far-fetched or absurd or impossible elements can be found in every giallo I’ve seen. (And I am referring to the films, not the novels, whose yellow covers led to the the name of this film genre in 70s Italy. Not counting Hitchcock’s films, there are a few superb giallo films from other countries. An American one, which displays its Italian influences from the get-go is “white of the eye” set in Southwest US I believe.)
