The journals of the Nobel Prize-winning author, beautifully illustrated with his own paintings
For many years, Orhan Pamuk kept a record of his daily thoughts and observations, entering them in small notebooks and illustrating them with his own paintings. This book combines those notebooks into one volume. He writes about his travels around the world, his family, his writing process, and his complex relationship with his home country of Turkey. He charts the seeds of his novels and the things that inspired his characters and the plots of his stories. Intertwined in his writings are the vibrant paintings of the landscapes that surround and inspire him.
A beautiful object in its own right, in Memories of Distant Mountains listeners can explore Pamuk’s intoxicating inner world and can have a fascinating, intimate encounter with the art, culture, and charged political currents that have shaped one of literature’s most important voices.
* Thia audiobook edition includes a downloadable PDF of the author’s illustrated notebook pages.

@wendyalen87639: That’s bulls@it. Turks have been living there for over a thousand years idiot. By that measure almost half the world must return to their “original lands”.

@frugalite07, Turks are Mongol occupiers, they only came to Anatolia less than 700 years ago, and they did not come to no “New Land”, they stole the land of Kurds, Greeks and Armenian. Less than 100 years ago they killed more than one million Armenian in the Armenian Genocide, the Turks came out of Central Asia with the Mongols, they still occupy Kurdistan, Cyprus, East Syria, and now trying to take over Armenian using their Mongol Turkish brothers Azeri in Azerbaijan. The native people of Middle East which are Kurds, Jews, Greeks, Armenian, Persian & Arabs will never accept these Mongol Turks, that is a fact. And sooner or later the so called “Turkey” will have to break up, a free and democratic Kurdistan will be formed and the Kurds will get their land and their rights back. Same with the right of the Greeks and Armenian, half of their lands are still occupied by Mongol Turk. Read history and learn.

@wendyalen87639: it’s obvious you’re completely blinded by the hatred of anything Turkish. Turks are not mongols you idiot. You read your history instead. By your measure americans, canadians, aussies and a whole lot of World population have to f@ck off from where they live now. Good luck with that you PKK scum.
