Dramatization
A BBC Radio adaptation by Michael Bakewell of Daphne du Maurier’s classic 1936 gothic suspense novel. This is an omnibus edition that combines the four episodes into one, removing the credits and introductions between each episode.
(This is not my rip - it was take from archive.org. I simply added all the correct metadata and converted to m4b. I created the cover art based on artwork I found on the web.)
The year is 1815. After her parents’ deaths, Mary Yellan has been forced to sell her family’s farm and move to Cornwall to stay with her Aunt Patience and her aunt’s husband Joss Merlyn, the owners and proprietors of the gloomy and threatening Jamaica Inn…an inn with no guests and an unsavory reputation; also, her formerly-lively aunt is now merely a shadow of her former self and her uncle is a drunken bully.
Soon after her arrival, Mary quickly finds out that the inn is mistrusted by the local population and that her uncle may be closely involved with a group of suspicious men who may be “wreckers” - men who lure ships into crashing on the rocks along the coast so that their cargoes may be looted…and their crews murdered.
Mary soon becomes involved in a world where it becomes difficult to know whom to trust and where what she thinks she knows may not be true…and may succeed in getting her killed…

A Note on Audio Metadata
One of my frustrations with the audio content I download from ABB is the amount of time I always need to spend fixing the metadata and adding cover art to make it work nicely with Plex/Prologue. With that in mind, all audio content I share on ABB will always have complete and correct metadata, including:
- Author and Title
- Description (using the DESCRIPTION field read that can read by Plex)
- Narrator (using the COMPOSER field which can be read by Prologue)
- Genre Tags (I add all relevant Genres typically taken from Goodreads. These can be used to create smart collections in Plex.)
- Cover Art (I always use the highest resolution image I can find. Where none exists, I will find a suitable image from the internet - often r/audiobookcovers - or create one based on existing artwork.
Furthermore, the audio will always be in m4b format (to support chapter markers and ensure Plex can read the Description tag). The audio will always be correctly chapterized, where necessary, and chapter markers will be correctly named.
This means that all content I share here can be considered Plex/Prologue-ready with all metadata and artwork included. I hope this encourages others to do the same.
(FYI: I typically add metadata using kid3 and chapter markers using Ocenaudio.)

“A Note on Audio Metadata”
You mean a bit like this one? https://audiobookbay.lu/abss/jamaigca-inn-bbc-radio-dramatisation-daphne-du-maurier/
My torrent is the un-edited version & I go even further than you do with my tags.
Embedded in the lyric section of each episode is the preview text and complete cast list for that every episode. I never mention it, it’s just there for those that look. Hint: Foobar2000 + openlyric plugin will let you read them.
What I don’t do is come in as a noob, tell everyone else that the free stuff they share isn’t up to your standards and publish a list of ways they should shape-up.
Do you see how that might come across a a little rude and entitled?

@prettyrandom I’m not sure why you are attacking me, since I was not singling anyone out. My point with this note was to state my desire to make everything I share “just work” for people who use Plex/Prologue.
Your torrents are always first rate, and I thank you for this. My only personal issue with them is that the descriptions in the lyrics mean they are not read by Plex. However, I can easily make it work by just copying across to the DESCRIPTIONS field. If you want to do this in future then great, same with including the narrator in the COMPOSER field, but again none of this is an expectation, merely a suggestion.
I was not aware you had already shared Jamaica Inn, and I was in no way attacking your work that is much appreciated. That said, I have included the title, author, cover art, narrator, description and genre in the relevant field so I’m not sure how you can claim that you go further than I do with your tags. Just because I have not shared much does not make me a noob.
It’s only rude and entitled if you choose to take it that way. Nobody has to follow my approach. They can do what they like. This is simply my approach, that I know works.

@jnmx This cover is great - I have replaced mine! I had a look though your Flickr feed and you’ve done amazing work - so many great covers there. You should share them to r/audiobookcovers if you haven’t already.
