Ken and company come back from summer break after arduous training for their third year at Haylon. No longer are they the fresh adventurers that once didn’t know the right end of the sword.
Instead they have settled into Star City among the Orkai and are thriving deep within the dungeon and even locating trails for the class to get powerful new abilities.
Things in the dungeon are never so simple. Lucian, a Leomatis Shaman is mourning the death of his grandmother before his father decides that Ken would become the perfect obstacle to whet his soft son’s claws.
At the same time, the Orkai Arbiters are going scorched earth on some problem that had bubbled up from the dungeon shuffle.
As always, the answer is for Ken to grow stronger.

Okay, this is the next book in this series from Sentar. I really liked the other books and, the narrators do a great job (so far).

i tried to give the new narrators a chance.. but they suck for these characters. don’t get me wrong. i enjoy the other books they do but. damn. crimson is flat. grandpa is not as lecherous. charlotte feels distant. … complaints here do nothing, i know.

It always feels that way when a book gets redone, or has to change narrators halfway. I remember the ten realms series, one of the main characters was Rugrat. A marine from the south, full on cowboy hats and americain flag short shorts. Loved his voice with the original narrator, but when it was remade his voice just lost that soul. Not to say it was bad, it just wasn’t my Rugrat you know? As for the originals of this series, I do agree. Des isn’t nearly as sultry in this version and I think the issue people had was that those two are everywhere. Hard to Imagine a new character when all you can do is hear an old one. Also the male actor has come a long way. Check out Dragon Emperor by Eric Vall and tell me I’m wrong.
